About Shannan:

Shannan Price was born on December 21, 1979 and was laid to rest with the lord on February 3, 2005.
Shannan grew up in Redwood City and was very involved in sports, playing on a number of sports teams including Basketball, Volleyball and her true passion, Softball. Sports were at the core of Shannan’s life and it was through her involvement on various teams and her participaton in the community that she found such a deep network of friends. She worked as a program director for an after school program through the Redwood City Parks and Recreation, where she helped pave the way for young individuals.

During her life, Shannan made a significant impact on all those she came in contact with. She was the type of person that saw the beauty in everyone, that loved life, that gave a perspective that one may not have thought of, that loved people for who they were, despite the judgments others may have developed. It’s difficult to articulate the true spirit of Shannan - She always walked through life with a smile despite the hardships she endured and in the interim taught so many people around her how to embrace everyday with a smile and love the little things all of the time. Shannan never set out to teach the world or network of friends and family everything there was to know about life — unknowingly and unconsciously she taught everyone the simplest lessons in life, but those lessons that so few people grasp - treat others the way you want to be treated, respect your peers and live life to the fullest.

In October of 2004, Shannan was diagnosed with Small Cell Carcinoma of the Ovary, a cancer that contains a very rare protein called P53. This is one of the most rapidly fatal ovarian tumors and occurs in young women with a mean age of 23 years. Shannan’s Cancer quickly mutated and spread to other organs in her body. On February 3, 2005 Shannan passed away…and life for those around her was never quite the same.
